My 5 favorite shows of 2011
1. UK London - Queen Elizabeth Hall

There is something about the unexpected… This was my first show with a brand new set of string players, the great Iskra String Quartet, and actually we just met for the first time that very day. They had been rehearsing a bit without me but the very stressed soundcheck was our first rehearsal together… Some things even felt a bit shaky in the soundcheck and i got a bit nervous. But because of this nervousness we all concentrated so much and everything somehow came together in a great way. The crowd at this show was also amazing and the whole atmosphere was one of the best i can remember. Beautiful venue too!
2. IT Brescia - Foyer Teatro Grande

The perfect example of how the venue can make the whole show. We played in this very old venue originally built for Napoleon (however he didn’t show up for the inauguration and the italians got very pissed off, as they do, and changed it’s name). The very nervous house-staff kept telling us to lower the bass because of the hundreds year old moasik on the wall could be destroyed if the building shakes too much. Absolutely amazing atmosphere in here, it even had me crying at the end.
3. US Harrisburg, PA - Midtown Scholar Bookstore

It’s funny how a show in a bookstore can make my best shows of the year list - but i guess that’s again with the unexpected… And very small and intimate shows often prove to be best, even though they are usually technically imperfect. Just a tiny PA, barely any lights, just music.
4. Reykjavík - Harpa Concert Hall

It was an honor to do a headline show in the brand new Icelandic Concert Hall, we have dreamt of this building all our lives and now finally that it is here i get to play there in it’s first year! This was also the live premiere of my collaboration with singer Arnór Dan. Great show!

This was the last of the 3 sold-out show i did in Berlin as part of my improvisational Solo Tour. This whole tour was just one big experiment and at first i didn’t really know much about what i was doing.. the shows gradually got better and peaked with this last show in Berlin where i had great guests join me on stage such as Nils Frahm
